Blaze Through the Florida Fire Inspector 1 Test 2026 – Ignite Your Certification Journey!

Commercial kitchen exhaust systems are regulated by a standard dedicated to venting and fire protection for cooking appliances. This standard covers how hoods, grease removal devices, ductwork, and exhaust fans should be designed, installed, operated, and maintained, and it requires an approved fire suppression system in the hood or ducts along with proper testing and maintenance. It also sets cleaning and inspection intervals for ducts and filters to minimize grease buildup that could fuel a fire. These focused requirements address the unique hazards of grease-laden kitchen exhaust, setting them apart from more general safety or electrical codes. Other NFPA standards referenced here handle different topics: one covers how certain materials burn and spread flame; another governs occupant safety and means of egress in buildings; and another addresses electrical wiring and equipment, none of which specifically oversee kitchen exhaust ventilation systems.
